A_この作品は音楽的ループ（≒反復）を用いて"現在"というスケールが常に流動している様を音化しようと試みたものである。

1. 作品内で用いられるループは5〜6程度のグループ化された音色によって構成されており、メロディを発するものもあれば、微弱なサイン波や物音等も含まれている。

2. 1で述べたグループはそれぞれが微増/微減しながらループを構成し、離れた位置に設置した複数の媒体から発音される。

3. ループがそれぞれの媒体から発音される際、再生開始位置がズレた状態（≒差異）で出力される。（物理的に完全な同時再生が困難なためでもある）

B_この作品は1,2,3の条件が満たされて初めて、作品として成立する。

4. 上記の作品の性質上、この作品の主たる構成要素であるループを単一の媒体から聴取することは困難であり、高確率で複数の媒体からの聴取を行うことになる。

5. 4と2で述べた様に、この作品は離れた位置関係で発音される非常に簡素なサラウンド（と呼ぶのも烏滸がましい）的要素を有しており、1と2で述べているそれぞれのグループが再生空間内で時折衝突するように構成されている。

6. 5で述べた衝突は偶発性が高く、作者の意図から離れたリズム、メロディ、和音/不協和音が時折発生する。

C_空間的聴取（4,5）と偶発性（6）をBで述べた条件（1,2,3）で作品として規定することによって"現在"というスケールが絶対的であり相対的であること（≒流動）が音的に体感可能なのではと仮定する。

C'_つまりこの作品は同時性についての音的アプローチである。全容の把握が不可能なループを今作の条件下で灯台的に用いた際、聴取している位置やタイミングによって作品内の前後は常に変動するため、主観としての絶対的な現在も共通無意識としての相対的な現在も成立し得ない。
※Bが作品の構成条件となる以上、作者もこの作品の全体をすることは認識できない。

A_This work is an attempt to sound the constant flow of the "present" scale using musical loops (≒repetition).

1. The sound loops used in the work are composed of about 5-6 grouped tones, some of which emit melodies, while others contain weak sine waves, noises, etc.

2. Each of the groups mentioned in 1 is composed of slightly increasing and decreasing loops emitted from several media located far from each other.

3. When a loop of sound is pronounced from each medium, the playback position is shifted (≒differentiated). (Physically impossible to achieve complete simultaneous playback).

B_This work is valid only if conditions 1, 2 and 3 are satisfied.

4. Due to the nature of the work described above, it is difficult to listen to the sound loop, which is the main component of the work, from a single medium, and it is highly likely that the work will be listened to from multiple media.

5. As noted in 4 and 2, the work has a very simple surround element that is pronounced at a distance, and each of the groups noted in 1 and 2 is constructed in such a way that they occasionally collide within the playback space.

6. The collision described in 5 is highly contingent, with occasional occurrences of rhythms, melodies, and chords/dissonances that are not the author's intention.

C_By defining the work as a work of spatial listening (4, 5) and contingency (6) with the conditions (1, 2, 3) described in B, we assume that the scale of "present" can be experienced sonically as absolute and relative (≈fluidity).

C'_In other words, this work is a sonic approach to simultaneity. Under the conditions of this work, when a sound loop, the whole of which is impossible to grasp, is used as a beacon, the back and forth in the work always changes according to the position and timing of the listener, so that neither the absolute present as subjectivity nor the relative present as a common unconscious can be established.

本展について

複数のメンバーによって行われる演奏行為等の展示となります。昼頃から夕刻にかけて環境と柔和、もしくはその音を浮かび上がらせる事を目的とし、海岸と半屋外スペースにて演奏と音響機器による音源再生を行います。

これらのアプローチは演奏行為という枠組みを用いることで自然音/環境音の能動的な聴取を促すという狙いもあり、言わば「4'33"」の応用的な手法でもあると捉えています。

みなとやは上記にもありますが海にまつわる環境音、特に波音が非常に豊かに聴こえてくる空間の上、オフシーズンは知る人ぞ知るプライベートビーチといった趣で運営されており、今回のような音に関するアプローチを試みるにはうってつけの環境となります。本展は演奏音や人工的な擬似自然音を比較対象として、通常の線的な音楽演奏とは別の点的な方式で出力することで、自然音の輪郭を際立たせる事が可能になるのではないかと想定し、みなとやの空間に漂う海岸の音のエトセトラを浮かび上がらせんと試みます。

また前回からのアップデートとして「MIMINOIMIAMBIENT/Week-」や「Food for Ears〜耳の糧〜」シリーズを開催しているコレクティブ「MIMINOIMI」、不定形のメンバーによりドローンを共通言語にして即興演奏する「Organic Drone Society」が参加します。

さらには音以外の要素にも目を向け、調香としてアロマデザイングループであるtuuro、みなとやの豊富なフード/ドリンクへのアクセントとして日本酒を提供する野良ちりんの出店も決定。1,2回目に比べ音と空間の関係性に対してより多角的なアプローチを用い、間口を広げることで、展示空間内で複数のハプニングが発生するMusicircus的な側面を会得できないかという試みになります。

About this exhibition

This exhibition presents performance acts and installations by multiple members. From midday into the evening, the aim is to blend harmoniously with the environment — or to draw out its sounds — through performances and audio playback at the beachside and semi-outdoor spaces.

These approaches aim to encourage active listening to natural and environmental sound through the framework of performance — in the spirit of "4'33"." As with previous editions, Minatoya's abundance of sea-related environmental sounds, particularly waves, makes it an ideal setting for this kind of sonic exploration.

This exhibition posits that by using performed and artificial quasi-natural sounds as a point of contrast, outputting them in a pointillist rather than linear manner, it may be possible to highlight the contours of natural sound — and to bring to the surface the coastal sounds drifting through Minatoya's space.

As an update from the previous edition, the collective MIMINOIMI (known for their "MIMINOIMI-AMBIENT/Week-" and "Food for Ears" series) and Organic Drone Society (an open ensemble using drone as a shared language) join as participants.

Looking beyond sound, the exhibition also expands its scope: aroma design group tuuro contributes as a scent element; Nora Chirin offers sake as an accent to Minatoya's food and drink. By approaching the relationship between sound and space from more angles than before, the aim is to open up the exhibition space to multiple happenings — a Musicircus-like dimension.

都心からも1時間半程度、横堀海岸を目の前に抱く音響設備を備えた海の家。波音に潮の香り、鳥類の鳴き声や風のそよぎが豊かに漂う空間でありつつ、フード/ドリンク類も充実。また従来の海水浴場よりも隠れた環境のため、これらの要素を存分に体感できる稀有な空間。

本展について

複数のメンバーによって行われる演奏行為の展示となります。昼頃から夕刻にかけて環境と柔和、もしくはその音を浮かび上がらせる事を目的とし、海岸と半屋外スペースにて演奏と音響機器による音源再生を行います。

今回は前回参加メンバーでもある電子音楽家FeLid氏からの声かけの元、横堀海岸に位置するみなとやを会場としての開催が決定しました。みなとやは上記にもありますが海にまつわる環境音、特に波音が非常に豊かに聴こえてくる空間の上、オフシーズンは知る人ぞ知るプライベートビーチといった趣で運営されており、今回のような音に関するアプローチを試みるにはうってつけの環境となります。

本展は演奏音や人工的な擬似自然音を比較対象として、通常の線的な音楽演奏とは別の点的な方式で出力することで、自然音の輪郭を際立たせる事が可能になるのではないかと想定しています。今回はその方法論を用いて、みなとやの空間に漂う海岸の音のエトセトラを浮かび上がらせんと試みます。

A beach house facing Yokobori Coast, about 90 minutes from central Tokyo, equipped with a sound system. The space is rich with the sound of waves, the scent of the tide, birdsong, and the rustle of the wind — and offers food and drinks as well. Because it is more secluded than conventional swimming beaches, it is a rare space where all these elements can be fully experienced.

About this exhibition

This exhibition presents performance acts carried out by multiple members. From midday into the evening, the aim is to blend harmoniously with the environment — or to draw out its sounds — through performances and audio playback at the beachside and semi-outdoor spaces.

This edition came about through an invitation from electronic musician FeLid, a returning member, and Minatoya on Yokobori Coast was chosen as the venue. As noted above, Minatoya is a space where environmental sounds related to the sea — especially waves — are exceptionally rich, and in the off-season it has the feel of a private beach known only to those in the know. It is an ideal environment for the kind of sonic approach we pursue.

This exhibition posits that by using performed and artificial quasi-natural sounds as a point of contrast, outputting them in a pointillist rather than linear manner, it may be possible to highlight the contours of natural sound. Here, we attempt to bring to the surface the sounds of the coast that drift through the space of Minatoya.

These approaches also aim to encourage active listening to natural and environmental sound through the framework of performance — an applied method, one might say, in the spirit of "4'33"."

平山郁夫が薬師寺に奉納した大壁画を制作する際に用いたアトリエに寄り添うように作られた庵。鎌倉の二階堂川に面した閑静な環境で瞑想や、新たな構想を温める場として設けた離れである。鎌倉山を背景にした庭は木々が豊かに生い茂り、都市的な喧騒とは隔絶された空間となっている。心地よい風が吹き通り、揺れる草木は目耳に優しく、滝の流れや池のせせらぎは心を静め、輪唱する虫の音が季節の色を感じさせる。こうした自然と相するに最も適した場に庵は設けられている。

本展について

複数のメンバーによって行われる演奏行為の展示となります。昼頃から夕刻にかけて環境と柔和、もしくは環境の音を浮かび上がらせる事を目的とし、敷地内各所にて小音量にフォーカスした演奏と音響機器による音源再生を行います。

上記にあるように寂静庵は豊かな自然環境に溢れ、そこにいるだけで様々な自然音が楽しめる空間です。既に過不足のない空間に対して、その他の音を持ち込む必要はあるのかという疑問は当然ありました。しかし演奏音や人工的な擬似自然音を比較対象として、通常の線的な音楽演奏とは別の点的な方式で出力することで、自然音の輪郭を際立たせる事が可能になるのではないかと仮定しました。

また本展は演奏行為という枠組みを用いることで、自然音/環境音の能動的な聴取を促すという狙いもあり、言わば「4'33"」の応用的な試みでもあります。

A hermitage built to nestle beside the atelier used by Ikuo Hirayama when creating the large murals he dedicated to Yakushiji Temple. It was conceived as a retreat for meditation and contemplation, facing the tranquil waters of the Nikaido River in Kamakura.

The garden, set against the backdrop of Kamakura's hills, is lush with trees and completely removed from urban noise. A gentle breeze passes through; swaying foliage soothes the eye and ear; the flow of a waterfall and the murmur of a pond calm the mind; the chorus of insects conveys the colors of the season. The hermitage was placed in the most fitting setting imaginable for communion with nature.

This exhibition presents performance acts carried out by multiple members. From midday into the evening, the aim is to blend harmoniously with the environment — or to draw out the sounds already within it — through small-volume performances and playback via audio equipment placed throughout the grounds.

As noted above, Jakuseian is a space abundant in natural sound, where simply being present allows one to enjoy a vast array of sounds. The question naturally arose: is it necessary to bring additional sounds into a space that is already complete? Yet by using performed sounds and artificial quasi-natural sounds as a point of contrast, we posited that it might be possible to highlight the contours of natural sound through a pointillist approach — distinct from conventional linear musical performance.

This exhibition also employs the framework of performance to encourage active listening to natural and environmental sound — in a sense, it is an applied experiment in the spirit of "4'33"."

本公演は体験した人々（我々も）の音楽聴取感覚をメタモルフォーゼさせる試みである。

良い音、ノイズ、素敵な曲、悲しげな唄、動植物の鳴き声、工事音、会話、電波、地下鉄、反響、水音。非音楽と音楽が行き交い、演奏と調律があわいに溶け、常に相反する音が混じり合う時間を生成する。

その際に発生する音声は全て等価である。

何処か惹かれる響き、目と耳で選択する音と空間の関係性。琴線に触れるものがあれば是非とも映像や音声を記録してお送りください。それらを用いて、新たな制作を行います。本公演の最終目的はそこにあります。

私達の演奏はそのための手段の一つでしかなく、来訪される貴方の記録もまた演奏の一つとなります。

An attempt to metamorphose the music-listening sensibilities of those who experience it (ourselves included).

Good sounds, noise, lovely melodies, melancholic songs, the calls of animals and plants, construction noise, conversations, radio waves, subways, echoes, water sounds. Non-music and music intermingle, performance and tuning dissolve into each other, generating a time in which contradictory sounds are constantly mixed together.

All sounds that arise in this moment are equal.

A resonance that draws you somewhere — the relationship between sound and space, selected by eye and ear. If something strikes a chord, please record it in video or audio and send it to us. We will use it to create new work. That is the ultimate goal of this performance.

Our performance is merely one means to that end — and your record as a visitor also becomes part of the performance.
